The Rules for Entering The Baduy Tribe Area in Lebak-Banten, Indonesia

The Baduy tribe is a group of people who live in the Lebak area, Banten, Indonesia. They also live an agrarian lifestyle, relying on farming and communal living. THERE ARE RULES FOR THE BADUY TRADITIONAL COMMUNITY 

1. Guests must report 1x24 hours to the service post (Kanckies Village Cultural Saba Permit)

2. Fill in the guest book provided 

3. Appreciate and respect the customs of the Baduy community while they are in the Baduy area.

4. Do not bring a radio tape, and do not play it while in the Baduy area. 

5. Do not bring a guitar (musical instrument) Modem or play it while in the Baduy area 

6. Do not bring unused loudspeakers in the area (Baduy in Cibeo, Cikusik, Cikartawan and Hutah lindung) 

7. Do not carry air rifles or anything similar. 

8. Don't throw rubbish carelessly (especially from cans or plastic) 

9. Don't throw rubbish and the like into the river 

10. Do not bring boxed rice to Baddy Luar or Baduy Dulim areas. 

11. Do not throw away lit cigarette butts 

12. Do not cut down trees carelessly and do not uproot plants along the road and damage them 

13. Visitors are prohibited from entering the Lanangan forest (Protected Forest and Kalaun Forest) 

14. Do not bring and consume alcoholic beverages (drinking) 

15. Do not carry or consume illegal drugs such as (shabu and the like) 

16. Do not violate moral norms. 

17. STAYING IN BADUY WOMEN AND MEN MUST BE SEPARATE EXCEPT FOR HUSBAND AND WIFE 

18. Do not use Soap, Toothpaste, Sahmpo when bathing in the river (Especially in Inner Baduy) 

19. HAGI WHITE PEOPLE (NOT INDONESIAN PEOPLE ARE PROHIBITED FROM ENTERING INNER BADUY 

20. IN DEEP BADUY IT IS FORBIDDEN (PHOTOGRAPHING TO MAKE VIDEO RECORDINGS TO MAKE FILM AND SOUND) 

21. IN THE MONTH OF KAWALU ACCORDING TO THE BADLY TRADITIONAL DATE FOR 3 (MONTHS) BADUY IS CLOSED FROM VISITS 

22. In the National Calendar around February-May for 2023 

23. Researchers must bring an Application Letter/Research Information from each institution (University) 

24. Comply with applicable laws and regulations in Indonesia. 

25. Maintain stability, peace, public order and cleanliness 

26. Carry out religious teachings/commands in an orderly manner according to each religion and not be flashy
